Transferring your domain to Pakaya Domains is a straightforward process that typically takes 5-7 days to complete. This guide will walk you through each step to ensure a smooth transfer.

Before you begin

Make sure you have the following ready before starting the transfer process:

  • Access to your current registrar account
  • The domain must be at least 60 days old
  • The domain must not be locked
  • You must have the authorization code (EPP code)

Domain transfers cannot be initiated within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer. This is an ICANN policy that all registrars must follow.

Step 1: Unlock your domain

Log in to your current registrar and navigate to the domain settings. Look for an option called "Domain Lock", "Transfer Lock", or "Registrar Lock". Disable this lock to allow the transfer.

Step 2: Get your authorization code

Request an EPP code (also called an authorization code or transfer key) from your current registrar. This code is required to verify that you are the legitimate owner of the domain.

Example EPP code format: 7Hj$kL9@mNpQ2rSt

Step 3: Initiate the transfer on Pakaya Domains

In your Pakaya Domains dashboard, go to Domains > Transfer Domain. Enter your domain name and the authorization code when prompted. Complete the payment for the transfer (which includes a 1-year renewal).

Step 4: Confirm the transfer

You will receive an email to confirm the transfer. Click the confirmation link within 5 days. Your current registrar may also send a confirmation email - approve the transfer there as well.

Transfer timeline

Most transfers complete within 5-7 days. Some registrars process transfers faster (within 24 hours), while others may take the full 7 days. You can check the status in your Pakaya Domains dashboard at any time.
